Help needed

If you and your loved ones have been blessed, share the blessings by playing it forward. Chose a cause close to your heart and share the blessings by donating services, materials or money.  Or maybe your family has had challenges and you know what it is to need a helping hand. Now you can have the blessing of being the helping hand.  Maybe the best you can do is to donate $10 or $15 occasionally.  If every one donated $10 or $15 occasionally to the organization that touched their heart, every organization would have all the funds needed to make a big difference in lives, human and animal.

Dogs on Deployment

I recently discovered the most amazing organization, Dogs on Deployment. According to their website: “Dogs on Deployment is a national 501(c)(3) non-profit providing a central network for military members to find volunteers willing to board their pets while they are deployed or have other service commitments, making them unable to temporarily care for their pets. No pet should ever be surrendered to a shelter due to a military commitment. DoD exists to help military members keep their pets by alleviating the need for pet relinquishment from military members due to the hardships of deployments.

“Additionally, Dogs on Deployment promotes responsible, life-long pet ownership in the military community by:
  • Advocating for military pet owner rights on military installation
  • Providing educational resources for military members about responsible pet ownership
  • Granting financial assistance to military members for help with their pet's care during emergencies
  • Promoting healthy pet lifestyles, including spay and neuter, insurance options and vaccinations
  • Connecting with community organizations to ensure Dogs on Deployment resources are available to military families
“Dogs on Deployment aids pets of all types that belong to active duty, reservists, guard, honorably discharged veterans and their families.”

Check it out. If you can not host a pet for a military person, maybe you could donate funds to help the organization continue to find hosting homes for dogs of service people who will have to give up their beloved animals to shelters when they are stationed away from home. The organization was started by a married couple that were deployed at the same time and needed a temporary home for their previous dog.

St Jude's Children's Research Hospital
501 St Jude Place:
Memphis, TN 38205
https://www.stjude.org/

Danny Thomas, a famous comedian, wanted a hospital for children with life threatening medical problems, a hospital that would not charge anything for their services. St. Jude also provides travel, housing and food for the families. They not only treat children free of charge, they are also a leading cancer research facility. Since 1962 they have saved hundreds, probably thousands of lives at their hospital and at other hospitals who have benefited by research provided free of charge. Please donate today, even a small amount will make a difference for a child.
